Kansas City Symphony to premiere Tiomkin Christmas song

The Kansas City Symphony Orchestra premiere of Dimitri Tiomkin’s holiday song, “Give Me Your Love for Christmas” featuring vocalist Whitney Claire Kaufman takes place on Thursday, December 13, 2012. The arrangement is by Patrick Russ. There will be a total of six performances through Sunday, December 16.

Composed in the fall of 1961, the lyrical secular love song contains the catchy line “Let’s make December a month to remember.” To read the full story of the song’s creation, follow the link, below.

Check out Kaufman’s vocal interpretation of “Wild Is the Wind” and other Tiomkin songs on the LSO Live recording of “The Greatest Film Scores of Dimitri Tiomkin.” The recording garnered Grammy nominations for James Mallinson for Classical Producer of the Year and Nan Schwartz for her arrangement of “Wild Is the Wind.”
